Hello!
My name is Zeyla Anderson. I am a practicing Suzuki Violin Teacher working in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have a studio made up of mainly Pre-Twinkle children learning the basics, and I am registered through Book 3 creating a full investment in my students continuity and love of the instrument over time.
I am also open and willing to have adults join and learn through the beauty of the Suzuki Method!
I began playing the Violin at age 4 through the Suzuki Method at the Longy School of Music and have continued playing at a high level to this day! I was fully involved in music programs such as Orchestral Studies and Chamber Music Groups as well as Music Theory and Aural Skill Training throughout high school and college. I received a minor in Music Performance from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, participating in the Violin Studio continuously throughout my time at the school.
I currently play for occasional musicals in the Cambridge Public Schools as well as being a member of a Chamber Music ensemble in the area.
Expectations
Lessons
I expect that the parent or guardian who accompanies the student to their lesson will be taking notes during the lesson to help them guide the child’s practice through the week. Videos and pictures are both welcomed and encouraged throughout this process. Active participation from the parent is a large factor in the Suzuki Method and helps the child understand the need to be present in lessons as well.
It is imperative that you bring all materials to every lesson.
Makeup Policy
I will make up 2 missed lessons throughout each semester. I will block a week at the end of the semester to do 1 makeup, the other will be scheduled as seen fit.
I require 24 hour notice if you plan on missing a lesson. If I do not receive notice within 24 hours there will not be a makeup for that missed lesson.
All teacher cancellations will be made up.
Holiday Observance:
Please let me know in advance if there are any Holidays you and your family observe. We will change lessons accordingly.
